Fortunately the ANSI standards are still different enough in
implementation that this would be hard to do.  It usually takes some
global setting of an environment variable to determine which variant of the
standard you want - DOS/WIN/Solaris/HPUX/ ad nauseum....  Also, all
compilers don't start the same way (unlike the UNIX cc), or use the same
command line options.
